1.1.0
Your own AI key
Design by voice grows up: it keeps to what you asked, edits what is already on the slide and can run on your own AI key. Photos become free layers, and What's new gets a fresh look.
New
Your own AI key. Add an OpenAI, Gemini or Claude key in Settings, and voice design runs on it instead of your credits, with what it has cost you this month, all time and per step.
Photos as layers. Pick several photos at once and place each one freely on a slide, then tap again to pan and zoom the picture inside its box.
A new What's new. Every update with pictures and live controls, and a fire to light on the ones you like, here and on layup.id.

Light a fire on an update you like
Improved
Design by voice, smarter. It holds every design to your request, changes what is already on the canvas, draws frames, seamless textures and free scrapbook layouts, and saves stickers it draws to your own.
You always see what it is doing. The status line names each step, a failed picture says why, and the free allowance grows to a hundred credits a month.
Design by voice naming its step while it builds
Faster screens. Your profile, the feed and follow lists open from what they showed last time, even offline, and taps answer with the right haptics everywhere.
Fixed
Slides stay whole while you arrange them, sign-in says why it is needed and carries on with what you were doing, plus fixes to the viewer and the editor.
Likes, stickers and a voice
Collages can now be liked, slides get a whole sticker library, and the first version of design by voice arrives in the editor.
New
Likes. Double-tap any collage or tap its heart in the feed, on a project or template page and in profile grids, and see your own collages' likes in their statistics.
Hearts flying over a liked collage
Sticker library. A whole collection in Flat, Puffy, Photo and Cut paper: press and slide on a sticker to pick its look, dress the whole collection in one style, and send your own sticker to everyone after a review.
The same stickers in Puffy, Photo and Cut paper
Design by voice. Describe the collage you want from the editor, and Layup lays it out with backgrounds, stickers and photographs drawn into frames, with a progress bar while it works.
Full-screen viewer. Tap a publication to open it full screen, swipe up through the list, turn its slides sideways, and watch videos loop with a tap to pause.
Improved
Publishing in the background. Keep working while your collage uploads, with its progress in a strip at the top of every tab.
Signature on export. An optional glass pill with layup.id and your name in a corner of every exported slide, plus colourful default avatars and blurred covers while pictures load.
Fixed
The Layup button waits until a slide holds four photos, a tapped project opens straight in the editor again, and the New Layer sheet fits without a scroll.
Swipe through every template
Template cards became carousels you can swipe, your publications got a Hidden or Public switch, and your own pictures can now be stickers.
New
Slide carousels on templates. Swipe through every slide of a template right on its card or its page, with page dots showing where you are.

Swipe a template to see each slide
Hidden or public. Publish a collage or a template from the export screen as Hidden or Public, and change it later from your profile.
Your own stickers. Add your own pictures as stickers and find them in your collection on every device you sign in on.
After the Tide. A coastal collection of templates dressed with shells, starfish and pearls, every decoration still yours to move.

Improved
A livelier feed. New followers, people who joined with your invite and collages made from your templates now appear in the feed between publications, by date.
Profile, settings and the editor. Set and crop a profile photo, find settings in cleaner separate fields, and see carried objects shrink around your finger with clearer resize guides.
Gallery carousels and cut paper
Ten Instagram-style carousels join the templates, with paper you can cut into puzzle pieces and postage stamps. And layup.id now lets you press Layup yourself.
New
Gallery templates. Ten carousel designs in a new category, from a jigsaw and a postage stamp to a pinboard, an album and lyric subtitles.
Cut-outs, pins and chat bubbles. Jigsaw and stamp frames punch a shaped window for your photo, a pearl pin holds things in place, and captions can now be iMessage-style speech bubbles.
Press Layup on layup.id. The site shows nine photos straight from a camera roll, and each press of the Layup button arranges them the way the app would.
Nine photos rearranging on layup.id
Improved
Collection cards. Each collection on the Templates home shows its picture as a panel running to the card's edge, with the title kept whole.

Template authors. Tap the author of a template to open the official Layup profile and follow it.
Projects and search. A project with no name shows the day it was made, and template search remembers your last five searches.
Fixed
A blocked profile shows Blocked instead of Follow, the blocked list shows everyone you blocked, and a selected object keeps its toolbar in reach when you drag it past the slide's top edge.
New settings and Layup online
Settings is rebuilt from the ground up, stickers and shapes are redrawn, and layup.id now shows what people make.
New
New Settings. Settings is a sheet of tiles that show their current value, with screens for your account, invites, appearance, the editor and About, and a theme switch drawn as three tiny collages.
More export choices. Save as JPEG or PNG, gather exports in a Layup album, keep originals out of your iCloud backup, and enjoy a Home Screen icon with a dark version.
Report and block. Report a collage that breaks the rules or block an account, which also removes follows in both directions.
Layup on the web. Every creator, collage and template has its own page on layup.id, and the home page opens on a wall of the newest designs, arranged by Layup's own rules.

Improved
Stickers, shapes and widgets. Thirty-two drawn stickers you can recolour, ten new shapes such as arch, hexagon and ring with an adjustable outline, and five looks for widgets.
Sheets that fit. Every sheet is exactly as tall as what is in it, and the editor always grows out of the create button wherever you moved it.
Fixed
Follows, reactions and the feed stay in sync, a carried object stays above the bin, and a screen keeps its place when you leave its tab and come back.
Beautiful type and a livelier bin
Text gets real typefaces and a colour picked for your slide, and the bin now takes anything you drag to it, with a little show on the way in.
New
Display fonts. Eight new typefaces, from flowing script to bold poster type, all writing Cyrillic as well as Latin, each shown in its own face in the picker.
The new display faces
Text in a colour that fits. New text and painted words start in white or near-black, whichever reads best on the slide beneath them.
Drag anything to the bin. A whole collage or a single frame can now be dragged down to the bin like text and stickers, and one Undo brings it back.
Improved
A bin that reacts. The bin grows as an object nears it, the object shrinks to just bigger than the bin, jiggles while it hovers, and leaves a puff of cloud when you let go.
A text widget jiggling over the bin
Faster opening and closing. Projects open and close twice as fast, with the same little bounce.
Fixed
Holding a sticker or text that sits over a photo no longer picks up the photo beneath it, and an opened project's close button always appears.
Carousels that cross slides
A collage or picture can now span two slides and arrive in both files, and Settings gets its own place in the bottom menu.
New
Seamless carousels. Anything hanging over the edge of a slide now continues on the next one in the exported pictures and videos, edge to edge, and the export preview shows it before you save.
One photo running across two exported slides
Settings tab. Settings is now the fifth item in the bottom menu, always one tap away instead of behind a gear on your profile.
Improved
Layers across slides. The Layers list shows a heading per slide, and dragging a row under another slide moves the layer there, even beneath that slide's collage.
Free movement between slides. A picture or video dropped over another slide now belongs to it, so it moves freely in every direction and its corner handles resize it properly.
Collages snap to slide edges. A whole collage snaps to its slide's walls and corners, and switching to Slides or pinch-zooming no longer makes the board jump.
Fixed
Turned photos follow your finger. Panning a photo turned sideways inside its frame now moves it the way you drag.
The lines between frames keep one width as a project opens, a drawing that fails to save stays open to try again, and photos still importing land on the right slide after you edit.
Steadier editing and settings
A quieter stretch spent making what already exists hold up: undo history, account settings, video export and caption handles.
Improved
Undo you can trust. Edits made while a project is still opening keep their place in its history, and a history that cannot be read no longer costs you Undo for the session.
Settings that stick. Profile edits and notification switches now save one after another, so a quick flip is never lost or overwritten, and leaving a screen mid-save no longer shows a false error.
Notification settings
Layup speaks up. If the collage changes under a Layup press, for example a photo still arriving or an Undo, the button now visibly refuses instead of silently doing nothing.
Video matches the picture. A half-transparent frame in an exported movie is no longer paler than in the picture, and a turned video plays at its saved angle in the editor.
Fixed
Caption handles on iOS 18. Resizing a caption by its corner works again on iOS 18 phones.
Redo stays available when it should, removing a grid leaves its copies intact, and retyping your own username no longer triggers a needless check.
A bin for every layer
Throwing things away became a gesture, captions gained more character, and drawing moved right onto the canvas.
New
Drag to the bin. Carry any layer towards the bottom of the screen and a round bin rises to swallow it; one Undo brings it back.
Delete just the collage. The bin on a collage's controls now removes the collage and leaves the slide in place, ready for something new.
Frame tap setting. A second tap on a filled frame now goes straight to the photo inside it, and Settings can switch this back to selecting the frame's outline.
The Frame tap choice in Settings
Improved
More expressive captions. Five new faces join the list (Script, Handwriting, Marker, Typewriter and Poster), and every caption can be bold or italic.
Draw right on the canvas. The pencil and the text brush now work over the slide itself, at the same zoom and position, so what you draw stays exactly where you see it.
Tidier object controls. Every object gets one bubble of buttons above it and a rotate handle below it, with its options moved into the bottom bar.
Fixed
A photo dropped on empty space now flies back to where it came from, its shape no longer flickers on a quick pass between frames, and the landing finishes cleanly; plus fixes to video trimming in exports.
Words painted along a line
A new text brush paints your words along any line you draw, and photos you move around now lift, float and settle into their new frame.
New
Text brush. Type a phrase, draw a line with your finger, and the phrase is painted along it, repeating to fill the stroke with every letter following the curve.
A phrase painted along a loop
Photos that move like objects. A photo you pick up lifts, flies to your finger, floats while you hold it, takes the shape of the frame underneath, and drops neatly into place.
One Layers list for the whole canvas. Layers from every slide sit in one list, the collage is a row of its own at its real depth, and each row shows its slide when there is more than one.
Improved
Captions. Choose from four typefaces, resize a caption by its corners and sides like a frame, move it to another slide or leave it in the gap between two, and it stays on top of everything while you drag it.
Drawing. The drawing screen shows the slide you are drawing on, and strokes now land exactly where you drew them instead of being stretched across the layer.
Clearer everyday screens. Better messages and a way to try again when saving or exporting fails, a more readable sign-in sheet, stronger text contrast and support for larger text sizes.
Fixed
A collage laid across two slides stays visible after you let go, selecting a collage no longer moves the board, and choosing a layer brings its slide into view.
